The Best Parks in Seattle for a Luxury Picnic
Seattle is filled with beautiful green spaces, but not every park is ideal for a picnic celebration. Some offer sweeping skyline views, while others are perfect for beach days, surprise proposals, or birthday parties with little ones.
At Picnic Party Seattle, we've hosted celebrations across the city and know exactly which locations work best for different occasions. Here are four of our favorite parks, each with its own unique personality.
Best Beach Picnic
Lowman Beach
If your dream picnic includes sandy toes, the sparkling waves, and a front-row seat to Puget Sound, Lowman Beach is one of Seattle's hidden gems.
Unlike some of Seattle's busier waterfront parks, Lowman Beach feels tucked away while still offering plenty of space to relax. Families love the nearby playground, making it a fantastic option for children's birthdays and family celebrations, while couples appreciate the peaceful beach setting for anniversaries and date nights.
Perfect for:
Family picnics
Beach themed parties
Date nights
Baby showers
Sunset celebrations
Why we love it
Cozy beach vibes
Beautiful sunsets

Best city Views
Bhy Kracke Park
Looking for skyline views without the crowds? Bhy Kracke Park is one of our favorite hidden viewpoints.
Perched on Queen Anne, this neighborhood park offers breathtaking city views that rival Kerry Park, but with far fewer visitors. It's ideal for intimate celebrations where you want incredible photos without hundreds of people walking through the background.
Perfect for:
Anniversaries
Birthdays
Engagement celebrations
Girls' nights
Why we love it
Gorgeous skyline views
More privacy than Kerry Park
Tucked away and private
Best Park for Large Groups
Volunteer Park
When you're hosting a larger gathering, convenience matters just as much as beautiful scenery.
Volunteer Park offers wide open lawns, mature trees, and one of our favorite amenities: public restrooms. That may not sound glamorous, but it makes a huge difference for birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, and celebrations with children or grandparents.
Its central location and spacious lawns make it one of the most versatile picnic destinations in Seattle.
Perfect for:
Birthday parties
Bridal showers
Baby showers
Team events
Family reunions
Why we love it
Public restrooms
Plenty of space
Easy guest access
Great for children
Best Proposal Location
West Montlake Park
Few moments deserve a beautiful setting more than a proposal.
Nestled along the water beneath mature trees, West Montlake Park offers a quiet atmosphere that's perfect for popping the question. It's peaceful, photogenic, and feels surprisingly secluded despite being close to the city.
This park is absolutely a hidden gem, perfect for a private, romantic picnic!
Perfect for:
Surprise proposals
Engagement celebrations
Anniversary picnics
Romantic date nights
Why we love it
Waterfront setting
Peaceful atmosphere
Beautiful photo opportunities
Popular Seattle Parks We Get Asked About
Seattle has no shortage of beautiful parks, and while we'd love to picnic everywhere, some locations simply aren't the best fit for the experience we want to create. Here are a few parks we're often asked about and what to consider before choosing them:
Kerry Park
Kerry Park offers one of the most iconic views of the Seattle skyline, but it's also one of the busiest. Limited green space, heavy foot traffic, and crowds waiting to take photos can make it difficult to enjoy a relaxed picnic. That's why we often recommend nearby Bhy Kracke Park, where you'll find similar views with a much more peaceful atmosphere.
Golden Gardens Park
Golden Gardens is a Seattle favorite for good reason. The beach is beautiful, but it can become extremely crowded on warm summer evenings, especially during sunset. Parking is limited, and large crowds can make setup more challenging. If you're looking for a quieter waterfront experience, Lowman Beach offers many of the same coastal vibes in a more intimate setting.
Gas Works Park
The skyline views from Gas Works are hard to beat, but the park is often busy with events, kite flyers, and large groups. Wind can also be a tricky factor as well as finding a nice flat spot for your picnic. It's a fun place to visit, but not always the most relaxing choice for an elevated picnic.
Discovery Park
Discovery Park is absolutely stunning, but it's also massive. Many of the most scenic spots require a fairly long walk over uneven terrain, which can make transporting décor and food difficult. For guests looking for easy access and a stress-free setup, we usually recommend one of our licensed parks instead.
Why We Stick to Our Favorite Parks
Every park on our recommended list has been carefully chosen because it offers the best combination of beautiful scenery, accessibility, guest comfort, and a seamless setup experience. We've hosted celebrations at each of these locations and know exactly where to create the perfect picnic, so you can simply arrive and enjoy the moment.
